April 9, 2026

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Fishing Report on 9th Apr, 2026 - 1

Had a great first weekend on Detroit River. Saturday the water was dirty and slow fishing. Sunday the water cleaned up enough to get this great group on some hogs. Fished Wyandotte and south end of Trenton Channel. Sassy Sardine front Lake Effect Lure Co. / RBM Jigs LLC did most of the work including a 8lb 8oz toad. Fighting these fish on the new 5'11" rods was fantastic. Light weight, great bake bone, and sensitive enough to feel even the slightest change in bottom. Biggest fish was 9lbs 8oz and a little over 28 inches. Only 3 slots left to get out on the Angler Qwest and jig up some Detroit River gold. Fiahing only gets better from here. Had a great time with this crew last night. Buddies boat broke down so I was able to help out and get them out and what a smash fest. Fish were hungry from the time we set to the absolute fire drill at the end having 7 fish on at one time and clearing 10 of 12 rods with fish on. I have a few weekday evenings available next week if you want to get on some fish and a Saturday morning. Captain Glenn (231)519-4700

Action Heating Up for King Salmon & Lake Trout fishing report coverpicture

May 13, 2025

Lake Michigan - Mason, MI Fishing Report on 13th May, 2025

As we move into mid-May, Lake Michigan’s west side is showing great signs of life. Anglers traveling from Detroit are finding it well worth the drive, especially to ports like Muskegon, White Lake, and Ludington. King Salmon have started staging in 50 to 120 feet of water, hitting well on flasher-fly combos and meat rigs trolled around 2.3 mph. Early mornings and late afternoons are producing the most consistent bites. Lake Trout remain steady on the bottom in 60 to 100 feet, especially on rocky structure and deeper shelves. Spoons and spin-n-glows behind dodgers are the go-to setup. Coho Salmon and Steelhead are also showing up in mixed bags, particularly in 40–60 feet of water with orange and UV-colored spoons. Surface temps are slowly climbing, and the bite is expected to ramp up heading into June. Stay tuned for weekly updates as the summer bite continues to build. For anglers heading out from Detroit, now is a prime time to plan your Lake Michigan charter trip for peak spring action.
